Drywall installation and partitions in Tallinn
Installation of plasterboard, framing, ceilings and partitions.
Drywall work provides the foundation for straight walls and ceilings and their subsequent finishing. We install plasterboard and framing and build partitions, suspended ceilings and recesses in Tallinn and Harju County.
When planning the work, we consider the room dimensions, sound insulation, moisture exposure, lighting and subsequent finishing. Properly installed framing and boards reduce the risk of cracking and greatly improve the quality of painting work.
What does the service include?
- construction of metal and timber framing
- installation of plasterboard on walls and ceilings
- partitions, suspended ceilings, cornices and recesses
- joint finishing, filling screw heads and preparation for finishing
When should you book this service?
Drywall work is needed when changing an apartment layout, levelling ceilings, creating indirect LED lighting or preparing walls. Good drywall work is invisible, because the finished surface remains straight and stable.
Work process
Planning
We mark the position of the wall or ceiling, check utilities and agree on sound insulation or moisture requirements.
Framing and boarding
We install the framing, check alignment and secure the boards at the correct spacing. We use moisture-resistant or fire-resistant boards where needed.
Joints and preparation
We reinforce the joints with tape, fill the screw heads and prepare the surface for painting or tiling.
Planning drywall work
The cost of drywall work depends on the amount of framing, board type, number of layers, sound insulation, recesses and whether the work involves a ceiling, partition or smaller repairs. Electrical cables, LED lighting or service penetrations within the drywall construction must be carefully planned before boarding.
Our quality checks cover the alignment of framing, board fixings, joint reinforcement and straightness of corners. Well-executed drywall work makes subsequent painting easier and reduces the risk of cracks and uneven surfaces.
Local experience and agreeing the scope of work
Planning utilities is important in drywall work, because cables, pipes, lighting and sound insulation must be in place before closing the boards. When assessing an enquiry, we always check site access, whether the space is occupied, which surfaces need protection and the most practical sequence of work. This helps avoid having to reopen or repair a completed stage later.
Before starting, we provide a clear, realistic estimate. If photos are not enough, we arrange a site visit. This lets us agree on materials, timing, related work and potential risks before the project begins.
If drywall work is part of a larger renovation, we coordinate it with painting, LED lighting solutions and any tiling. This helps determine where to provide access, which surfaces require stronger boards and when final finishing can begin.
Drywall installation prices
The cost of drywall work depends on the amount of framing, board type, recesses, ceiling height and whether sound insulation or concealing utilities is included. Dimensions and a description of the desired solution help us assess the job.
For a faster quotation, please include photos, measurements, the site location and your preferred deadline where possible. This helps us determine whether a site visit is needed or an initial estimate can be based on your description.
Choosing plasterboard, framing and finishing
Standard and moisture-resistant boards
In dry living spaces, standard plasterboard suited to the project is appropriate. More moisture-resistant boards are intended for rooms with higher humidity, but they are not waterproofing: a shower area requires a separate suitable waterproofing system. The board type, thickness and number of layers are selected for the complete construction.
Sound insulation and fire resistance
To reduce noise, we consider the framing, mineral wool infill, board mass and sealing of junctions. A single red board does not provide fire resistance: a tested wall system with the correct fixings, service penetrations and joints is required. For example, Knauf Blue is suitable for systems with higher mechanical or moisture requirements.
Joint compound and finishing filler
For joints, we use a joint compound compatible with the board system and the required reinforcing tape. Knauf Uniflott is one example of a jointing product; ready-mixed Fill & Finish Light is suitable for joint and surface finishing within the limits of its instructions. A fine skim coat over the whole wall provides a more uniform surface for paint or thin wallpaper.
Technical sequence for drywall work
Measurements and framing
We agree on the wall position, door openings and finished dimensions. Before boarding, we plan cabinets, the TV, lights and sanitary fittings: heavy items need supports or fixings suitable for the construction. Framing spacing and fixings follow the instructions for the selected system.
Utilities and boarding
Electrical and plumbing work and the necessary checks are completed before closing the wall. We install mineral wool infill, avoid placing joints at the corners of openings and stagger joints in multilayer linings. Screws must not tear through the paper facing; we plan access hatches for servicing building systems.
Q2, Q3 or Q4 finish
Q2 is standard joint finishing, Q3 requires more thorough surface smoothing, and Q4 requires a high-quality finish over the entire surface. The required level depends on the final coating and side lighting. Filler layers must dry before sanding, after which we remove dust and prime; even with Q4, the result must be assessed under the agreed lighting.
For a quotation: Provide the wall or ceiling dimensions, desired sound insulation and fire resistance requirements, wet room locations and fixing points for heavy items. This allows us to assess the actual amount of framing, board layers and finishing work.
Examples of drywall finishing materials
Knauf Uniflott
Plasterboard joint filler. The board edge, system and joint type determine whether reinforcing tape is needed. Working time differs from the final drying time of the layer; a mix that has started setting must not be thinned again.
Manufacturer's instructions
Knauf Fill & Finish Light
Ready-mixed lightweight filler for finishing joints and surfaces in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. Thicker layers and higher humidity increase drying time. We sand only once the surface has dried and prime before the final finish.
